Portable Shelters
Do you need additional shelter space? One option, especially if your brick-and-mortar garage is filled to the limit, is to use portable shelters. Portable shelters are essentially portable garages but, as with any type of garage, the space isn’t only used for vehicles. Garages are often storage spaces and even work areas for at-home protects. If you don’t have a garage attached to your home and want a work area or place to keep a car or other objects, portable shelters are an economical option and versatile in terms of design. Each portable shelter consists of a galvanized steel frame and a heavy-duty polyethylene canopy, and this shelter can be modified further by adding additional side walls or expanding its size, if you ever need even more space.
Portable shelters are considered portable, as they can be put and set up anywhere. At home, they can be placed at the top of the driveway, in the backyard, or in the front yard – any location, as long as the shelter can be anchored. It should be in an accessible location if you plan to use it for vehicles, particularly cars. Cars and seasonal vehicles are some of the primary uses for portable shelters. Seasonal vehicles include RVs and boats needing storage during colder months, but, if you need garage space to protect your car, portable shelters can be used as an ordinary garage. For full coverage, walls and even a roll-up or zipper door can be added to the structure.
Even if you don’t have a car or vehicle to store, portable shelters can be used as work areas or storage for other items, be it farm equipment or hay if you’re on a farm; a motorcycle or bicycles; or tools and other work equipment like shelves and work benches if you need a tool shed. When one of these portable shelters is fully enclosed by additional polyethylene walls, it can be used as a separate storage shed or tool shed. If you need any type of outdoor storage or your garage doesn’t have enough storage space, portable shelters can become additional square feet for storing items.
One unique option for using portable shelters is to shelter animals. Portable shelters of varying sizes can be portable livestock shelters for horses or hogs, or, at a smaller size, they can be portable dog kennels. For livestock in particular, the larger portable shelters are used as run-in sheds for the animals to run in and out of during the day and to be kept in at night. Whether the portable shelters are for horses or another livestock animal, the shelters can be used as an economical and portable option to wood stables.
