Whether you’re a casual gardener or have professional needs for flowers and produce, the following are some of the advantages of installing a portable greenhouse on your property.

With the start of spring, many homeowners’ thoughts turn to gardening and getting the home’s outdoor areas ready for a spring and summer season. Many people begin germinating plants in their homes to avoid the high costs at plant nurseries. If you have small children, pets (cats love to dig!), or very little counter space, however, you may find starting your spring plants difficult. If your home isn’t an ideal place to start growing your garden’s bounty, you may want to consider a portable greenhouse.

The Benefits of a Portable Greenhouse

Whether you’re a casual gardener or have professional needs for flowers and produce, the following are some of the advantages of installing a portable greenhouse on your property.

Protect from frosts. Though it’s spring, surprise frosts and even snow aren’t unheard of. Rather than risk planting too soon, a portable greenhouse can keep your young plants protected even if there’s a spot of cold or unseasonable weather.

They’re affordable. Portable greenhouses come in a variety of sizes, shapes, and features to suit almost any budget, and they can be erected for less cost and in less time than a formal greenhouse building. They can also be moved from place to place easily is your needs change.

They keep the critters away. If you’ve ever put young plants in the ground only to find they’ve been nibbled by squirrels, mice, deer, gophers, or other hungry creatures, you’ll know the frustration of wasted work and cash. A portable greenhouse is an ideal way to keep animals from spoiling your young plants.

They extend your growing season. Particularly if you live in a region with a short growing season, a portable greenhouse can allow you to carry on growing well into the fall and begin early in the spring. For warmer climates, a portable greenhouse can allow you to grow fruits, vegetables, and flowers all year long.

Even though restaurants are only allowed to offer delivery and pick-up, it doesn’t mean that the employees or customers are completely safe from catching COVID-19. Really, this executive order was made to help reduce human to human contact as much as possible. That said, many restaurant owners have started serving customers 1 at a time--which is smart--but other measures can be taken as well. Such measures include: establishing a designated pick up area for curbside delivery, a waiting area for delivery drivers, and if you want to go the extra mile, a special screening area to take customer temperatures. To make this a reality, use Pop Up Canopies or Tents.

Designated Pick Up For Curbside Delivery

To keep people out of your storefront location, make a sign that says “Pick Up Here” and attach it to a pop up canopy. These large tents will be hard to miss. Less customers will be likely to wander into the store if this is in their way.

    Designated Parking for Delivery Drivers

If you’re smart, you are using apps like GrubHub and Uber Eats to offer delivery; however, drivers are on a tight schedule; therefore, they are perhaps more likely to wander inside than even the direct customers. To minimize this from happening often, use a pop up canopy to show delivery drivers wear to park. Ideally, you should only have 1 or 2 drivers present at a time, so this is also a great way to limit car build up.

    Designated Screening Areas

If you want to leave no stone unturned, then use a pop up canopy to establish a temperature taking station. This solution is for those who don’t want to risk letting anyone inside at all unless they are sure that they are healthy.

Gardening is a favorite pastime for many. Whether you’re avid about growing your own natural fruits and vegetables at home, you enjoy floral arrangements around your yard, or you just have a green thumb and find your own quiet relaxation while gardening - there’s a reason for everyone to try the hobby at least once.

If space in your yard is an issue, or other environmental factors like poor soil, too much shade, etc., plague your gardening capabilities, then you may want to consider building your own small greenhouse where you can still take part in the joy of gardening at home, with far less hassle and a much greater return!

Here are a few ideas for setting up a small greenhouse on your property.

    Choose the Right Location

When you are ready to build your portable greenhouse shelter, you should choose a location that is going to give the plants the proper sun they need to thrive. Typically, this is on the south or southeast side of the house - for some home is the sunniest area could also be on the east side of the property.

    Decide on Dwelling Material

There are many different types and styles of greenhouse building materials to choose from. From plastics to glass and even wood. When you’re talking about a portable option, something that isn’t permanently in the ground, then you want to go with something lighter in weight for transport, but also strong enough to handle the outdoor elements. Walls made of Polyethylene plastic will be able to resist heat and humidity as well as tears. Also, be sure you choose a portable shelter with a strong frame. Galvanized steel will withstand high winds.

The fall season is fast upon us. While much of the U.S. is still battling heat waves and tropical storms, the reality is that we are only a few short months away from the holiday season and while things are much different this year. New school years, fall weather and cooler temps are coming.

If you’ve been spending more time at home and thinking about ways to improve your backyard space through the seasons, then a portable shelter is a great investment.

Here are some reasons to invest in a portable shelter for the fall season.

Because You Need Somewhere to Sit Comfortably

If the upcoming fall season is going to be spent outdoors at home, you might have never considered that it’s not the same as being outdoors in the summer. The patio furniture is likely tucked away and the pool is covered. Keep that same outdoor vibe alive and opt for a carport or gazebo style portable shelter and you’ll have somewhere to hang out that’s also covered and comfortable.

To Store All the Stuff from Other Seasons

If you need somewhere to store all the summer toys and accessories you can also get a portable shelter in the backyard for that. No one likes clutter and if you’re making way for bonfires and outdoor activities in this new season then having somewhere to store the leaf blowers and pool rafts that’s not in visual sight is important.

Want to buy a portable shelter for your yard? Shop Shelters of America today. We have everything you need for a fully ready to go shelter or you can customize the width, length, height and even the material and color of your portable shelter!

Whether you’re hosting a party, relaxing at the pool, or trying to run a business, portable canopies offer easy protection from the rain and sun. Often called pop-up canopies, these portable shelters “pop up” when opened. Equipped with legs that are easy to adjust, pop up canopies offer stable protection on the go. Even though they are made for travel, they can be used at home quite effectively too.  Here are 5 of our favorite ways to use them at home.

    Cover Your Garden or Sandbox

Remember when we said that the length of the legs are easy to adjust? Well, this makes them ideal for giving your garden a bit of shade. This is especially useful if you’re doing maintenance on it. We don’t all have the luxury of being able to wait for the sun. If you have the day off and it’s raining, then a canopy will protect you from getting wet while you get work done. Additionally, if you have little ones who play in a sandbox, a canopy can be used to give them shade on those scorching hot days.

    Shade For Your Pool Chairs

There’s nothing like laying out and catching some rays poolside. Sooner or later, though, you’ll want to take a break. Even if you make smart use of the water and sun block, it’s best to give your skin periods of shade. To accomplish this, put your canopy over your lounge chairs.

    A Lemonade Stand

Ah, the lemonade stand. A staple of many childhoods, and a great way to teach kids the value of a dollar early. If your children are setting up on a hot day, then give them a portable canopy. The tent style makes the stand look more professional, it helps keep the drinks cool, and it protects the little ones from getting too much sun.

    A Garage Sale

Most street businesses look more professional when they’re under a roof. A pop up canopy achieves that look, and it gives customers some protection from the beating sun. In addition, if it starts to rain, your stuff won’t get wet.

    Cover Your Deck or Patio

Whether you’re having guests over for an outdoor lunch or just enjoying your morning coffee outside, it’s nice to have a quick shade solution sometimes. This is where the pop up canopy can really shine. Rather than investing in an awning, just pop one of these up, and when you’re done, either leave it as is, or break it down and move it to the side. Easy as pie.

Is there anything more american than a backyard barbeque party? Whether you’re hosting one for a birthday, graduation, retirement, or for no particular reason at all, it’s important to ensure that you have the essentials. If done right, your friends and families will go home with full bellies and long-lasting memories. Here’s what you need in order to make sure that your party is as successful as possible.

    Hamburgers, Hotdogs, Chicken and/or Steak

You can’t have a barbeque party without burgers and dogs. That said, the best grill masters will also offer foods for people who don’t particularly care for burgers or dogs. That’s fair, isn’t it? After all, some people don’t eat meat, and some people only eat fish. Therefore, to accommodate these different preferences, you can offer veggie burgers, salmon steaks, chicken, and/or steaks. The options are endless, really. If you want to make something really unique, then we suggest making shishkabobs. These can be made with steak, veggies, chicken, and fish. Anything that can go on a stick will work.

    Drinks: Alcoholic and Non-Alcoholic Choices

Alcohol will help adults loosen up, so if you can afford it, do your best to supply a variety of options. Just as people enjoy different foods, alcohol taste can vary widely, too. Generally, you should at least offer beer and wine. By all means, encourage people to bring their own alcohol. Most people will do this, but making a hard statement about it should ensure a better BYOB turnout.

In addition to alcohol, you should also offer non-alcoholic options. Soda, water, and iced tea are all great choices. There might be kids there, and even if there isn’t, remember that not everyone wants to drink alcohol. Moreover, even if everyone DOES want to drink alcohol, some people dislike drinking alcohol while eating. Last, it’s important to stay hydrated while hanging out in the sun; therefore, water and iced tea will help your guests from getting dehydrated too quickly.

    Music, Bug Spray and Sunscreen

It’s hard to get a party going without music. You can either make a great playlist beforehand, hire a band / DJ, or just play pandora / spotify radio all day. Whatever you do, make sure that there’s music in the background the entire time. In addition to music, you should offer bug spray and sunscreen, too. Bugs always come when there’s food to eat; and if your party goes on well into the evening, you’re sure to have some mosquitoes flying around.

A Tent In Case It Rains

You really never know if it’s going to rain or not. You don’t want to risk your party getting ruined, do you? That’s why you should grab a pop-up tent or canopy. That way, your guests will have shelter from rain or the sun if needed. If you want a quality pop-up tent for your backyard party, then check out the tents from Shelters of America
